TETRAHYDROFURAN(THF)

TETRAHYDROFURAN(THF)
Molecular Formula: C4H8O
Molecular Weight: 72.11
CAS Registry Number: 109-99-9
Uses: THF serves as a raw material for producing Polyurethane (PU) Elastomers, Polyurethane fibers (spandex/Lycra), Specialty rubber, and special purpose coatings. It is also utilized to synthesize chemical intermediates including Tetrahydrothiophene, 1,2-Dichloroethane, 2,3-Dichlorotetrahydrofuran, α-Valerolactone, γ-Butyrolactone, and 2-Pyrrolidinone. In pharmaceutical manufacturing, THF acts as a key precursor for Anti-infectives and Hormone such as Ceftezole sodium, Erythromycin ethylsuccinate, Ceftriazone sodium, Betamethasone, Dexamethasone, and Dexamethasone 21-phosphate disodium salt. Additionally, THF functions as a crucial intermediate in vitamin E production. When treated with Hydrogen Sulfide, THF yields 4-Thiophenol and finds application as an Odorant (identification additive) in fuel gases. Furthermore, THF operates as an Organic solvent across diverse processes including organic synthesis, chemical separation&extraction, and coating formulations.
Quality Standard: Compliant with Superior Grade specifications stipulated in GB/T 24772-2009 "Tetrahydrofuran for Industrial Use"
